CRG Colloquium Series: October 7 Abstract

Introducing the John Wesley Powell Center for Analysis and Synthesis

Jill Baron and Marty Goldhaber, USGS Fort Collins and Denver

Just imagine: You have colleagues in the Survey and beyond with whom you have been talking about combining your data to answer an important question, test an hypothesis, or expand the application of a concept in time or space. All you need is some time and a place to get together periodically to work through ideas and data. The Powell Center is that place.

The new Powell Center, located in Fort Collins, provides an environment for scientific, cross-disciplinary collaboration that will expand the process of earth system science research, the scale of analysis, the inclusion of different types of information and technologies, and the application of knowledge to pressing natural resource issues.

Our Colloquium will describe the Powell Center, how to submit a proposal for a Working Group, and what we hope the new Center will accomplish for you the scientist, for the USGS, and for the advancement of knowledge. Visit http://powellcenter.usgs.gov after October 1st
