- The electron microbeam laboratories are equipped with state-of-the-art
JEOL 8900 electron microprobes and image processing facilities.
The laboratories provide the highest quality micro-analytical
data including quantitative analysis, digital elemental mapping,
qualitative analysis, and secondary and backscattered electron
imaging. The laboratories are equipped to address a wide variety
of geological and materials problems including phase chemistry,
cross section analysis, and chemical and textural characterization.
The laboratories provide services to the Divisions of the USGS
as well as other Federal agencies and universities and are recognized
as a world class facility.
