CHROMATOGRAPHS

Equipment

  • Low-temperature Asher, LFE 504 four chamber 20+ years old. Capability: LTA 4 samples at a time. Located in Reston.
  • High-temperature Asher, Isotemp Programmable Ashing Furnace Model 495, about 20 years old. Located in Reston.
  • Perkin-Elmer Gas Chromatograph LECO Analyzer, analyzes carbon, hydrogen, nitrogen, sulfur, and oxygen. Located in Reston.
  • ICP-AES, Thermal Jarrell Ash, purchased in 1984. Able to do multi-element analysis on solutions. This is a dual spectrometer with an old DEC system of integrating data; there is a possibility it could be reduced to a single spectrometer and connected to a PC which would improve its reliability. Located in Reston.
  • HPCL, not currently operational. Located in Reston.
  • Benchtop GC-MS, The benchtop system is a Hewlett-Packard Mass Selective Detector based GC-MS, purchased in 1991. Located in Reston.
  • Research GC-LC-MS (gas chromatograph - liquid chromatograph - mass spectrometer) Research-grade Hewlett-Packard MS. Engine based system with Electrospray LC interface, purchased in 1996. Located in Reston.
